AGM

This year’s AGM went off unspectacularly. Chairman Gerry Crawley reported that membership had risen about 10% this year. Appreciation was shown to the five retiring committee members. Five new members were voted on to the committee unopposed.
Bernard Howell reported that the group have a healthy financial balance, and consequently the membership fees (now due) will remain at £10.

Following the formalities members had an opportunity to discuss the wide range of activities in which members take part, at the impressive displays set up by the convenors. These ranged from a large selection of (empty) wine bottles displayed by the Wine Appreciation team, another display of excellent pictures from the Art Group, sartorial elagance with the Dancing squad to an amusing fake newspaper produced by the Creative Writing folk.
It was widely agreed to be a very successful afternoon. And of course tea and biscuits were once again much appreciated.

Next month’s meeting, on April 7th, will be at the Chepstow Drill Hall.

Ceilidh a great success

Over 90 people enjoyed an evening of country dancing at this year’s ceilidh, once again effiiciently organised by Sheila and Derek from The Striders. Chepstow Drill Hall proved a successful new venue and may have played a part in attracting the record attendance.
Thanks are also due to all those who brought along food for the excellent supper.
The very jolly band Rig-a-Jig played no small part in getting everyone up on their feet and keeping the evening going with a swing.
Only 12 months until next year’s dance!
